I joined the research team at Facebook in 2012 after completing my PhD in psychology from Duke University where I studied the effect of mindfulness and acceptance-based interventions on well-being. I now lead research for the Compassion team at Facebook seeking to encourage more supportive and compassionate interactions online. I conduct surveys and qualitative interviews to understand both the meaningful and difficult experiences people have online. I also work closely with psychologists, researchers and mental health experts to apply evidence-based practices to enrich and support people’s experiences, particularly during difficult life moments (suicidal ideations, bullying, mental and physical illness) that show up online.
