I am a Scientist at Meta on the Core Data Science Team in NYC. I am also a part-time Senior Lecturer in Marketing at Columbia University. I continue to serve on external academic leadership boards and teams including the Board on Mathematical Science and Analytics at the National Academies of Sciences Engineering and Medicine, the Computer Science Advisory Board for the University of the People, Senior Fellow at Wharton Customer Analytics and Senior Editor at the INFORMS International Journal on Data Science. Broadly, I study the alignment of data science with business problems. Specifically, I research the value to companies of mining data on how consumers interact with each other on online platforms — for targeted marketing, advertising, public health and fraud detection purposes.
Prior to joining Meta, I was a Senior Principal Researcher at Microsoft Research in NYC, a professor in the Operations and Information Management Department at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, and a Commissioning Engineer at Siemens Energy & Automation. I hold a B.S. in Mathematics from Spelman College, a B.E.E. from the Georgia Institute of Technology, and a Ph.D. in Information Systems from NYU’s Stern School of Business.
