As an engineering leader at Facebook, I started a long list of initiatives for user experience optimization. I am proud to have designed, built, launched and spearheaded the growth of large-scale and real-time machine learning models and systems from sketch for ads ranking, user engagement and growth optimization at Facebook.   Prior to joining Facebook, I led ranking and quality projects at Google (Mountain View, CA) where I received the Executive and Management Group (EMG) Award. I was a visiting scholar in Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). I received my PhD from Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST). I published papers in conferences and journals in the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), Association for Computing Machinery (ACM) and the American Association for Artificial Intelligence (AAAI) societies. I am a senior member of IEEE. I was a co-chair, a (senior) program committee member, and a reviewer for many conferences and journals. I was awarded the Precision, Performance and Creativity Awards at the ACM Knowledge Discovery and Data Mining (KDD) Cup for the winning solutions in query understanding. I was featured in an interview in the magazine American Scientist.
