Last year, 779 people from 68 countries attended the inaugural Instagram Workshop on Recommendation Systems at Scale. Given the success of that event, Instagram invites the academic community and industry peers to join the second workshop, which will take place virtually on Wednesday, September 14, 2022. Those interested may register at the link below. Participants are encouraged to register by September 12, 2022.
Production recommendation systems in large social and commerce platforms introduce complex and unprecedented challenges. The Instagram Workshop on Recommendation Systems at Scale aims to bring together leading researchers and practitioners in related fields to share knowledge and explore research collaboration opportunities between academia and industry, especially as it pertains to the challenges of large-scale systems for recommendations and ranking.
“At Instagram, we build recommendation and ranking systems that help more than a billion people to connect with friends, creators, interests, and businesses,” says Aameek Singh, Engineering Director at Instagram. “At the same time, we seek to support a strong and growing creator economy and to innovate responsibly. To accomplish this at the scale of more than a billion people per day, we are continually iterating and learning. Connecting, sharing, and collaborating with the greater community around the challenges inherent in building these systems is an integral part of that.”
