Diana Freed

Diana is a PhD student in the Department of Computer and Information Science at Cornell University where she is co-advised by Nicki Dell and Tom Ristenpart. Her research focuses on advancing the current understanding of how digital technologies are used as tools of abuse.  She combines techniques from computer security, HCI, psychology, and law to develop new tools, technologies, and theories to detect and mitigate technology-enabled abuse.

Diana is a 2019-20 Digital Life Doctoral Fellow, a recipient of the 2017-18 Engaged Cornell Graduate Student Grant, an Affiliate and 2015-16 Fellow at the Data and Society Research Institute, and a 2015-17 NYU Visiting Scholar. Prior to Cornell she completed an MPS from NYU-ITP, an MS in Biology from NYU, and an MA in Psychology from Columbia University.
