I am a PhD student in Electrical and Computer Engineering at University of Texas at Austin. I am working with Professor Edison Thomaz at the intersection of wearable computing, audio recognition, and human-centered AI.
My research is to enable off-the-shelf smart wearables (e.g., smartwatches) to better sense and assist people in the real world, especially by leveraging their sound listening capabilities. Given the wide success of embedded motion sensors in automated human understanding, I explore the potential of transforming microphones on wearable devices to be robust user behavior sensors. My work was recognized with the best paper honorable mention award at ACM ISWC 2022.
