Sharifa Sultana is a PhD student in Information Science at Cornell University. Her work focuses on human-computer interaction (HCI) and Information and Communication Technologies for Development (ICTD) from a critical computing and feminist HCI perspective. She is currently designing and evaluating novel social media tools for rural Bangladeshis. Prior to coming to Cornell, she was a Lecturer in Computer Science at Independent University in Bangladesh. She completed her BSc in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology, majoring in Telecommunication Engineering and Digital Signal Processing.
