Briana Vecchione is a Ph.D. student in the Department of Information Science at Cornell University, advised by Solon Barocas and Karen Levy. Her work uses causal, statistical, and other computational methods to identify and mitigate structural issues of algorithmic bias/discrimination, often related to public policy or similar human-centered domains. Briana completed her bachelor’s degree in Computer Science from Pace University and was a 2019 recipient of the Google Women Techmakers scholarship.
